Just as Hornet FC is on the way up the league table, Meirda FC inflicted a cruel blow to their title hopes by beating them 2-1.

Hornet FC began the match without regular goalkeeper Boon Chen and his place was taken up by Mervin. Hornet FC's play was slopply and although the match was controlled by us, we never really could threatened Meirda's goal, while on the other hand, Meirda looked the hunguer side. Their attacks threatened us and thanks to Mervin's heroic performances, we were able to shut them out. Meirda still managed to get a goal in the 30th minute and we were 1-0 down at half-time.

In the 2nd half, Hornet FC pressed hard to get the equalizer but was let down by poor finishings. The performance of Hornet FC improved and we were controlling the match well. Ruiqiang, Seow Chuan and Kenny all started to impose themselves into the game by raining shots at Meirda's goal. In the 70th minute, Chuan Seng got the equalizer through his trademark long range shot. 5 minutes later, another long range effort by Chuan Seng almost gave Hornet FC the lead but it hit the upright. As Hornet FC pushed forward, a counter-attack by Meirda show them restoring their lead in the 81st minute. Hornet FC by this time, had pushed all their players up and the game was played in Meirda's half, but sadly, we could not get the equalizer and at the end, it was 2-1 to Meirda FC.

After match thoughts: It was a bad performance for us. We could win strong teams but when we play against weaker teams, we seems like we could not perform. We must improve on this.
